2011 Tennis Program

Feb. 17, 2011 – Telluride, CO. – The Peaks Resort & Spa announced today the partnership with Winning Touch Tennis (WTT) to provide services and amenities to the Telluride Mountain Village Tennis Club (TMVTC) this year. Located at the Peaks Resort & Spa, the TMVTC will offer a variety of new programs, celebrations, mixers, and instructional options commencing in June, 2011.

"Winning Touch Tennis, Inc (WTT), a professional owner/operator of three facilities in the Princeton, New Jersey area,is the new exclusive operator of our tennis programs at the Peaks," said Eliot Brown, a managing member of TMVTC.

The new programs kick off June 4, with an introduction to Director of Tennis and President of WTT, Bill Kurtain. Kurtain is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association as a P1 and currently holds first vice president position of USPTA Middles States Division.Bill has 35 years teaching and competitive playing experience.

"We are excited with our opportunity to partner with TMVTC and bring our comprehensive WTT tennis programs to Telluride," said Kurtain.

The following TMVTC programs are currently scheduled:

  • Opening Day Celebration; Sat.June 4, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Court activities include complementary "just try it" tennis instruction.
  • Men's Mixers; Tuesday's 10-12p.m and Wednesday's7-9p.m. Singles and/or doubles, open to all levels on a drop in basis.
  • Women's Mixers; Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:30 -12:00 p.m.
  • Mixed Doubles; Fridays 6-8 pm. For couples or singles, mixed up doubles.
  • Parent/Child Mixers; A special event, highlighting this game for all ages. Grandparents welcome.
  • The Club Championships; Men's, women's, singles, doubles, and mixed events & juniors.
  • The Mountain Cup; club team tennis featuring men's, women's, singles and doubles.
  • Mountain Matches; A singles ladder format for men, women, and juniors.
  • Tennis Instruction; Excellent teaching with the "The Progressive Learning Program", as Bill Kurtain directs the program. Plyometrics techniques also featured. This cross between instruction and competition uses sports specific training, and tennis games improve.
  • Junior Development Ages 6-16; WTT teaches kids how and why to play tennis. Proper fundamentals, tactics, and rules are developed as well as the "life lessons" tennis offers. Fitness and proper nutrition, honesty and sportsmanship, a positive work ethic, and healthy socialattitudes highlighted.
  • Adult Weekend Tennis Getaway Camps; proposed dates: 6/9-612; 6/16-6/19; 7/7-710; 7/14-7/17; 7/21-7/24; 8/11-8/14; 8/18-8/21.
